By Axel Hoge

Axel Hoge is currently a Cinematic Arts major at the University of Texas at Arlington, and is an experienced actor, cinematographer, editor, photographer, and writer. He started his filmmaking career in 2016, taking his first Audio Video Production class and falling in love. In 2020 and 2021 he worked in live production for football games in the Clear Creek Independent School District with C3 Studios, operating the replay machine or field camera. He also worked on ‘Knight Vision,’ his high school's weekly video program, where he was responsible for conceptualizing, filming, and editing a short film every week to be shown to the student body at large.

Since starting his degree at UTA in 2021, Axel has directed, edited, and starred in award winning films, worked for the multimedia empire ‘Dude Perfect’ as an art PA, and acted as the antagonist in an original musical in Sweden during his semester abroad. He has also worked as a multimedia journalist for ‘The Shorthorn’ UTA’s award winning student-run newspaper, since his freshman year. His tasks included capturing stills and videos of events, both off and on campus, and editing them to be presented to the population at large, through either print or digital. He has helped capture  dozens of stories with photos and videos, even winning awards along the way.

Inspired by films that changed his life, Axel is a creative whirlwind on both sides of the camera. His goal is to share honest stories that change the lives of those who view them for the better. He’s adept with Davinci Resolve, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, Canva, and Final Draft,  has experience editing vertical and horizontal videos, and is eager to learn as much as he can about visual storytelling.
